Position Summary:
Calvary Child & Family Services is seeking passionate and experienced Child and Youth Mentors to join our dedicated team. In this rewarding role, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting individuals facing behavioral challenges and mental health concerns.
We offer a variety of work schedules to accommodate your availability, including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends. To ensure we can effectively meet the needs of our clients, priority consideration will be given to applicants with evening and weekend availability.
As an Independent Contractor, you will enjoy the flexibility to coordinate your schedule based on your preferences and areas of expertise. You’ll utilize your skills and dedication to empower children, youth, and adults to develop essential skills and achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized support plans and crisis intervention for children, youth, and adults diagnosed with ASD (autism), Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health Disorders, and/or Dual Diagnoses.
- Provide one-on-one mentorship in various settings, including foster homes, family homes, day programs, hospitals, group homes, and community settings.
- Ensure safe transportation for children, youth, and adults to appointments and activities, following agency guidelines.
- Assist children, youth, and adults with activities of daily living in accordance with group home plans, including bathing, feeding, grooming, and incontinence care.
- Foster positive relationships with children, youth, and adults and families by demonstrating genuine interest, utilizing positive reinforcement techniques, and promoting self-esteem.
- Monitor children, youth, and adults’ well-being and report any health concerns according to established protocols.
- Model and teach essential life skills that contribute to safety and independence.
- Encourage children, youth, and adult’s participation in designated activity programs.
- De-escalate crisis situations and manage high-risk behaviors using established techniques.
- Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures set forth by Calvary Child and Family Services and our clients.
- Participate in training programs related to children, youth, and adult work, including those specific to diagnosis and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including shift reports, incident reports, medication logs, communication logs, and expense reports.
- Contribute to a positive and healthy living environment by assisting with housekeeping tasks (meal preparation, cleaning, etc.)
- Attend case conferences and actively participate in care discussions.
- Administer medication as prescribed and documented within guidelines.
- Demonstrate a willingness to undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Community College Diploma or University Degree in the Social Services field.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience supporting children, youth, or adults with complex needs.
- Current Vulnerably Sector Check required. Vulnerable Sector Checks accepted if within the last 6 months.
- Current Child Welfare Record Check (obtained from local Children’s Aid Society).
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C required.
- Crisis training (CPI, UMAB, SMG, TCI); it is mandatory to take UMAB through Calvary.
- Driver’s Abstract, Class “G” Driver’s License.
- Access to an insured vehicle with $2 million liability insurance.
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB test
